“KARA WALKER AND ALL THAT SUGAR”

THIS VISUAL GALLERY COMES COURTESY OF ME TAKING AN AMBITIOUS ACT ON A HOT ASS DAY TO GO AND SEE THE HIGHLY ANTICIPATED LARGE SCALE SCULPTURE EXHIBITION THAT KARA WALKER WAS HAVING AT THE ABANDONED DOMINOS SUGAR FACTORY RIGHT HERE IN BROOKLYN NEW YORK. THANKFULLY I WENT ON THE VERY FIRST DAY IT OPENED NOT KNOWING WHAT TO EXPECT AND I HAVE TO SAY I WAS ASTONISHED. THE TIME AND EFFORT IT MUST HAVE TAKED TO COMPLETE SUCH A TASK IS TOO LARGE TO THINK, BUR I WILL SAY THIS I HAD AN EMOTIONAL BOND WITH THE SCULPTURES AND STARTED THINKING OF THE HORRIFIC AND PAINFUL STORIES THAT WENT ALONG WITH THE LIFE AND TIMES OF A BLACK SUGAR WORKER. NEVERTHELESS I WAS INSPIRED BECAUSE TRACING THE ROOTS OF SUGAR IN AMERICA AND ITS INDUSTRILUZATION ONTO THE AMERICAN POPULATION HAS LED ME TO MY OWN ANCESTRY AND ALL THE WORK AND DUES THEY PAID TO KEEP THINGS A LITTLE SWEETER IN A COMPLETELY NOT SWEET SITUATION. BELOW YOU WILL FIND MY VISUAL FINDINGS OF THE EXHIBITION FROM THE SUMMER ALL SHOT WIHT A CANON REBEL EOS 2OOO 35MM FILM CAMERA. HOPE YOU ENJOY AND LEAVE FEEDBACK.

“NY TIMES AT APERTURE FOUNDATION”

I CHECKED OUT THIS EXHIBITION ON BEHALF OF MUSEE MAGAZINE THE OTHER DAY AT THE APERTURE FOUNDATION IN CHELSEA NYC. I DIDN’T KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT BEING IT WAS THE NEW YORK TIMES AND I WASN’T SURE IF IT WAS GOING TO BRING A NICE MIXED CROWD, BUT TO MY SURPRISE I WASN’T DISAPPOINTED. SERIOUSLY I WAS REALLY GLAD. I REALLY DIDN’T WANT IT TO BE A BUNCH OF OLD STUFFY FOLKS. IT HAD A NICE MIX OF YOUNG AND MATURE MINDS EXCHANGING PHILOSOPHIES AND TASTES. I DIGGED IT HIGHLY. I ENDED UP MEETING A REALLY DOPE PHOTOGRAPHER BY THE NAME OF ANTHONY BARBOZA AND IN THIS PARTICULAR BOOK THAT THE NEW YORK TIMES WAS PUSHING OUT HE HAD A PICTURE IN THERE OF ONE OF MY IDOLS THE LATE GREAT MILES DAVIS. THE NIGHT WADS FULL OF ENERGY AND GREAT LOOKING PEOPLE FROM ALL WALKS. CHECK OUT THE VISUALS BELOW AND STAY TUNED FOR MORE.

“Masters Projects Gallery”

THIS POST COMES AS THE BEGINNING OF ME DOCUMENTING ART EXHIBITIONS I ATTEND HERE FREQUENTLY IN NYC. ONE OF MY FAVORITE THINGS TO DO BESIDES CREATE ART IS TO GO SEE IT, BEFOR I EVER HAD THE COURAGE TO TRY MY HAND AT CREATING MYSELF I WOULD SPEND MY TIME ANY TIME I HAD GOING TO SEE ART, GOING TO SEARCH FOR INSPIRATION WHEREVER I COULD. JUST SPENDING DAYS AND DAYS GOING TO GALLERIES AND MUSEUMS. I TRY TO KEEP AN OPEN MIND AND CHECK OUT ANYTHING THAT SPARKS MY INTEREST. THESE VISUALS ARE PART OF A GROUP SHOW TO START OFF THE NEW SEASON OF ART. YOU CAN CHECK OUT THE REST OF THE SHOW AT THE MASTERS GALLERY IN BROOKLYN ON 111 FRONT ST.
